Hi, I'm Ellie, and You're Watching Disney Channel

Hi, I'm Ellie, and You're Watching an Article on how Absolutely Terrifying Disney Channel Is

Good Luck Charlie, Kim Possible, Hannah Montana, any of these ring a bell? Chances are, these iconic T.V. shows bring back precious memories. When you think of Disney Channel, you probably think of innocent movies and a lovable little mouse. LIES. Disney knows what it wants; money. And they will do anything in order to get it.

In journalism, a couple classes ago, we discussed binary models. A binary model is a term in journalism that simply means opposites. Some examples are, entertainment and information news, elitist and populist, fact and opinion, and the one that interests me the most, content and distribution. Disney has indulged in both content, making movies, T.V. shows, and distribution, Disney Channel, Disney XD, etc. This is known as conglomeration, which is combining similar things. Disney has expanded to reach a mass audience. They've done all of this with one thing in mind, cold hard cash.

Think about it, Disney owns an unnecessary amount of subsidiaries. To name a few, Pixar, ABC, Marvel, even ESPN. Why do they keep buying? They're already one of the largest mass media companies in the world. They're also coming out with their own streaming service, now that they've taken all of their works off of Netflix. Take a look around people, Disney is secluding itself.

I guess making little kids dreams come true will never be enough for Disney. I suppose they will always want more.
