Completely Giving Up

Completely Giving Up

Since when did WHAS start publishing advertisements as stories? I suppose when they stopped caring about looking professional.

If you want to hear a good bargain story, you call your grandma, not your local news station. When I first saw Matt Granite's story on fitness trackers, I legitimately thought it was an ad. I was wrong. WHAS just decided to publish a story talking about how you can save a few bucks on a smart watch. This is the perfect example of violating the rules of journalism.  This topic affects no one in particular, its not life or death if you can't score an item for cheap. The news is a place to get involved with our world, WHAS seems to be confused by that.

To prove this story is not an ad, it says at the bottom of the article, "He (Matt Granite) is not compensated by the brands featured here". Since the author is not compensated by the products sales, this is not an advertisement.

In conclusion, this is embarrassing. Local news needs to inform, not entertain. This unprofessional "story" is leaving a burden on WHAS's reputation.
